What is X Visa?
An X visa is also known as the Entry visa. It is issued for the people of Indian origin to enter India. It is different from a tourist visa. These visas are issued mainly for longer stays, which probably exceed 180 days. Although to eliminate all the hassles regarding visas, it is recommended that people of indian origin should apply for their OCI and PIO cards, which are much more efficient. The X Visa does not apply to Pakistani nationals.
The Indian X visa is provided to the people of indian origin and could also cover:
- Spouses of the people of indian origin
- Former nationals of India
- Dependent children of a person of indian origin
- Spouse of a person who holds an OCI or PIO card
- Dependent children of the person who has an OCI or a PIO card
Validity
The validity of an X visa for India is generally for one year or less. But, in most cases, for persons of indian origin, the X visa can be issued up to five years. One thing you have to note is that the validity of the visa starts or is effective from the date of issuance.
Requirements for the X Visa
To submit the documentary proof with the visa application for all the categories of people mentioned above is necessary. Here are a few of the requirements:
- A person of Indian origin has to attach a copy of their previous indin passport/OCI card/Marriage certificate/PIO card, according to your case. And, the spouses of PIOs have to submit the Legal/ Apostille marriage certificate.
- Spouse and family members who are dependent on the person of indian origin should provide proof of their relationship and a copy of the long-term visa of the PIO.
- Foreign nationals who have any property in India should provide proof of their property, its registration papers, etc.
- Others need to provide the documents that support their purpose of visit.
