The time to get an Indian visa in New York depends on the visa type. For instance,- an e-tourist visa is processed in 5 working days, a regular visa in between 10 to 15 days, a business visa in 10-14 days, and a student visa in 7 to 8 weeks from the application date.
You can send the documents to VFS Global in four ways. It includes a self-upload that you can do online and is free of cost. Send the documents by post and for this, you can use FedEx Padded Envelope, FedEx Pak, or FedEx Envelope. Use a courier company, or use document scanning assistance for VFS Global. However, you need to pay a fee for document scanning assistance.
The processing time of VFS Global generally takes 15 business days. Applications are processed according to the receipt order. In addition, during the peak season and in exceptional cases the processing time may be longer.
In the United States, VFS Global uses FedEx as its courier partner. The company provides two-way courier services allowing applicants to send their passports and documents to the Visa Application Center (VAC) and return them to their chosen location and time.
If you need to submit your application for a visa urgently, you can walk into VSF Global without an appointment. It will further process your application. However, this service is available for selected countries only so do check before going without an appointment.
