About Minor OCI Card
As we know, India does not support dual citizenship, so for the Citizens of India living abroad, the Indian government launched a card named the Overseas Citizens of India Card. It allows them to travel to India, visa-free, and for as long as they want. These cards are also applicable for minors, and they are also required to apply for the OCI card minor. There are some eligibility criteria for the OCI card for minors, and if your child fulfills all the requirements, then you can also apply for their OCI card.
Are Minor Children Eligible for an OCI Card?
The eligibility criteria for the OCI card application for minors are given in the following steps:
- Both parents should be citizens of India
- Either of the parents should be a citizen of India
- Or, both of them should have their OCI cards
However, there is one condition in which the child cannot get the OCI card, which is if either the parent or grandparent has ever been a citizen of Pakistan or Bangladesh, they will not be eligible for the OCI card.
How to Apply OCI Card for a Minor?
To apply for the Minor OCI application, you have to reach the portal of the official OCI services, and the rest of the steps are given below:
- Visit the official website and fill out the application form for the minor OCI card carefully.
- Collect all the documents that are needed for the application. The main documents are the birth certificate of the child and the valid passports of the parents. The other documents are mentioned on the website according to the situation.
- Submit the application and pay the fee amount mentioned.
- Print the documents and submit them at the nearest BLS center.
