What is FRRO?

The FRRO full form is Foreigners Regional Registration Office. It is a compulsory process for the people of a foreign nation in India who hold a visa for more than 180 days. It is important to complete the registration within 14 days of arrival. It serves to provide the facilities for the stay and other essential services like visa extension, etc. It also acts as a proof of address and a valid ID. FRRO means an extended stay in India. FRRO India has offices in many major cities, including New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Amritsar. There is a special category for foreign nationals who have to do the FRRO registration: 

• Foreign nationals who are on a long-term visa, such as students, employment, research, medical, etc.
• Expatriates who are working on a long-term employment visa in India.
• Tourists who have some specific visa conditions, such as staying for longer than 180 days. 

What are the Steps for FRRO Registration

To register for FRRO, you have to follow a process, and there are some steps for it: 

1. Documentation: Collect all the documents that are required to fill the form, which include a visa, a valid passport, residence proof, and passport-sized photographs.

2. Online Registration: Now, complete the online registration by visiting the official e-FRRO online portal. 

3. Appointment: Schedule an appointment in the nearby FRRO office after you submit the form. 

4. Visit the FRRO Office: You have to visit the FRRO office on the date of appointment with all the original documents and a printed copy of your application form.

5. Enrollment of Biometrics: You have to enroll your biometrics, which means submitting your fingerprint and iris scan. 

6. Submit Form C: Make sure that you submit the Form C promptly to the nearest police station or FRRO Office, which has the data of your residential address and travel details.

7. Verification and Approval: The FRRO will do the background checks for all the information that you have provided and verify it. After its approval, you will get an acknowledgement receipt and a certificate for FRRO Registration.
